“My first time moving in here, it felt like a dream,” Celestin told us, remembering his first day at the Akayange Market Hub. For two years, he ran his retail shop in an open-air market, where every day came with challenges. He faced rain, strong winds, hot sun, and the fear of theft. Without electricity, he couldn’t work after dark. “I had to carry my goods home every night and bring them back each morning. It was risky and tiring,” he shared. 

Celestin finally has a safe, sheltered space to work. “I can now work until I decide to close,” he explained. Celestin is also already seeing the difference in his income. His profit increased by 45% in just one month due to better working conditions. 

Celestin is excited to keep growing and plans to join our Business Leader Development training. “It’s a good opportunity I don’t want to miss. It’s important to have business skills,” he said.
